 Nutrition Pyramid shows the 5 basic foods, food choices and the required consumption amounts. Pyramid starts with the carbohydrates that should be frequently consumed and continues with the foods to be consumed less. Now we will try to explain these 5 basic food groups briefly;
Carbohydrates
The foods within the group below are the foods to be consumed frequently and they contain carbohydrates. Carbohydrates include grain products such as rice, bulgur, macaroni and they are to be consumed more.
Minerals
Minerals are included within fruits and vegetables and the vegetables should be consumed more than the fruits. If the foods under this group are not consumed adequately, some health problems may be faced.
Proteins
There are lots of foods that contain proteins such as meat, chicken, dry beans and fatty grains. Additionally milk, yogurt and cheese are under this group too.
Fat and Sugar
Fat and sugar are the foods that should be consumed less. Liquid and solid fats, sugar and sweet foods are under this group too.
